Premises Registration Instructions

Premises registration facilitates expedited disease traceability in the event of a disease outbreak affecting livestock. Premises registration is mandatory for all owners of livestock species in Wisconsin, including backyard chicken owners. It is free to all registrants.

LIVESTOCK PREMISES INFORMATION

Premises Description (Ex. "milking barn," "chicken coop behind residence," "pasture.")*
Livestock Premises Type: Most registrants should select "Farm or Production Unit," including people who show livestock or are registering domesticated backyard birds.*
"Livestock exhibition" should be selected only if animals congregate at this location for an exhibition or sale. Livestock locations at which animals are raised for exhibitions such as shows or fairs or locations at which pet livestock are kept are a farm or production unit.

"Non-producer participant" should be selected only if you do not have livestock at the location; perhaps you need a Premises ID for distributing tags or materials.

*Contiguous refers to property/land that is adjacent or separated only by a transportation corridor, stream, or like feature. A house address used for mailing purposes may be located on the same contiguous property but the address where livestock are kept may be different.
